Camp Date:
August 6th - 10th,
2012
9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Here is what a typical day at Nick Toneys Performance Hockey Schools will include:
Off-Ice Training - 2 Hours
Depending on age and ability level, different methods will be used accordingly. For older and more advanced skaters, the off-ice sessions will include cutting edge techniques used by college and professional hockey teams all over the world. The goal is to gain strength, explosiveness, and quickness. The players will achieve this goal through:
- circuit training
- plyometrics
- agility ladders
- The Russian Box
Younger and less experienced skaters will be introduced to fundamentals and the importance of off-ice training in a fun and competitive environment.
On-Ice Training - 3 Hours per day
During the on-ice sessions, the players will work on all facets of the game throughout the week. Since the focus is on individual attention, smaller groups will be used to customize drills according to age and ability. The players will work extensively on stickhandling, passing, shooting, and skating. Since skating is such a huge part of hockey, the instruction is broken into different categories. Here is a list of a few:
- edgework
- crossovers
- stops/starts
- backwards skating
- overspeed training
The details are very important to us. By giving individual attention and working with players one on one, it allows player development to be accelerated.
Snacks - Offered daily
Nutrition is a key component to staying healthy and performing at a very high level. That is why we are offering nutritious snacks. To maintain energy levels throughout the day, these healthy snacks will be available between sessions. Different types of fruit, energy bars, and yogurt are just a few examples of what is going to be offered during the week.
